In order to decide our target audience and to get some inspiration based on what others like in films, I carried out a questionnaire and input the results into 'www.surveymonkey.com'. I got some good results which helped me see what my target audience is most likely to be and what genre/type of film that audience would usually watch. Although my results were varied they were very helpful:

I am happy with the results of this questionnaire because it means I was able to find out, not only what my target audience wants to see for example, what genre they enjoy but also more specific things which will really help us in our piece, for example, what their favourite film is. I was also able to find out how often they watch short films which has been very useful because I was concerned that the target audience wouldn't watch this type of product, however, people said they do watch films sometimes and would watch it if it was advertised to them and they thought it looked interesting.
If I was going to redo this questionnaire in order to get better results I would ask a wider range of ages as almost 50% of people I asked were in the age range '16-20'. This means my results will give me thorough results for this age range but not very accurate results for other ages such as '26-30' because I only asked one person from that group meaning I am not getting a true idea of what most people that age enjoy. I also asked double the males to females which means my results are again, quite biased. Also, although this would be difficult, I would have asked a lot more people as I would get more reliable results and could locate outliers.
A final thing I would change if I were to do the questionnaire again would be to specify that only one favourite film could be chosen because some people chose two which made it more difficult to analyse my results. My questionnaire could have been better and got more accurate results but it helped me make a lot of decisions about my piece.
Therefore, this research really helped me to understand what my target audience wanted to see and know what to do in a future survey in order to get more accurate and helpful results.
