An example of a shot we discovered didn't work very well was the handheld camera. Although we still plan to use this in our piece, we have found out how difficult it can be to keep the camera steady whilst running as it means it is difficult to keep the subject of the shot in frame. We therefore decided that rather than running with the camera we will walk with it as we can then keep the camera steady but still give the effect we wanted.

Experimentation
In order to decide on what shots we want to use for our final piece, we did some filming using various techniques. Some worked very well and we plan to use them in our short film, however, some we planned to use but have now decided won't work as well as we thought.

An example of a shot which we discovered did work very well was a low angle shot of someone typing. We originally wanted to use a shot of the side of the writer but we have now decided that using a low angle is more effective.
We also found that a shot we thought might not work was actually very effective. This is a shot from behind the writer and we thought it wouldn't work as you couldn't see her hands and therefore the audience wouldn't be able to tell she was typing. However, we discovered that the sound of the keyboard is enough to show the audience what is going on. We therefore plan to use a similar shot in our short film.
